The Canadian Geese are Back

Three this morning and two this afternoon. Yes both groups came from the South over the lake. The second group landed in the field looking for left over grain. They are the vanguard, there must be open water in the marsh or near the edges.

This is good, if that’s right we will be moving docks in about 3 weeks. Heavy rain is in the near future and bright sunny warm days will melt the ice fast.

The nice weather is good to stimulate the Spring desires. Desires like fishing and boating. The Crappie and Bluegill and lets not forget Perch are going to be hungry when the ice goes out and we will have boats in for the eager day trippers. The Month of May has some fantastic savings Check it out http://bit.ly/15AUQwl ”The Eager Angler”

The year of the Snake

Happy New Year to all my many Chinese Friends and those that follow the lunar calendar.

What a beautiful day to celebrate. Bright sunny warm for this time of year.

It was a fantastic day people were out on the bay ice fishing. This was the first time that I noticed snowmobiles traveling the lake. The conditions were perfect just enough snow to keep the sliders lubricated. Just a perfect weather to spend outside and enjoy nature at it’s best.

The biggest snow storm of the season hits hard!

It started last night and continued all day and this evening. I think that work crews have forgotten how to deal with snow. It was like we no longer know how to deal with snow. The roads were not plowed, it is only 12′ of snow we can deal with that!

I must admit the snow was welcome ground cover. Now it really looks like winter even though we are on the down side of the frosty season. It’s winter everyone.

The count down has started First the Sportsman Show. Second will be the Spring Fishing and Boat Show next I will  that will be at the London Ontario Boat and Fishing Show.

This picture was taken early this morning. There is over double that now.

Ice Fishing on McGregor Bay Rice Lale

Once there were none, then there was one, but now there are three. Yes three, three ice fishing huts out on the Bay. They are walking, four-wheeling and getting out there any way they can. Guess what, they are catching fish in the bay.

Looks like the ice has formed.

After all this clod weather there is good ice out on the bay. There are now 2 fishing huts out there and several folks fishing. Just remember to use caution when out there on the ice.

Enjoy winter!

Time to start thinking of making those spring and summer plans

Although it has been cold outside the sun rays are getting stronger. Before too long spring will be here. January is almost over and the signs of spring are beginning noticeable, the cats are spending more time in the window soaking up the sunshine. Although it is -18 C outside the the sun’s rays are melting the snow away from the house on the deck.. The nest snow fall will change that But that is to be expected. All in all the winter has not been that bad so far.
Yesterday I ventured out on the lake for a walk in the sunshine. This was the first time I felt confident enough to go out on the bay, With this cold snap the ice has taken hold and is at least thick enough to support at least a person. Might even take the Gator out there if the ice is thick enough.
